Accessibility Statement

The Lower Saxony State Museum Hannover endeavors to ensure that its website www.landesmuseum-hannover.de is in accordance with national legislation implementing Directive (EU) 2016/2102 of the European Parliament and of the Council on barrier-free access to the websites and mobile applications of public bodies to make it barrier-free accessible.

This Accessibility Statement applies to the Website www.landesmuseum-hannover.de.

State of compliance with the requirements

As a public body in the sense of Directive (EU) 2016/2102 We strive to ensure that our websites and mobile applications comply with the provisions of the Lower Saxony Disability Equality Act (NBGG) as the Lower Saxony Barrier-Free Information Technology Ordinance (NBITVO) to implement the Directive (EU) 2016/2102 to make it barrier-free accessible.

The websites are largely compatible with the requirements of the harmonized European standard EN 301 549 V 3.2.1. The incompatibilities or exceptions, as well as their reasons, are listed below.

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is not yet accessible for the following reasons:

Incompatibility with legal requirements

  • Not all elements that are visually recognizable as headings, lists and tables have been marked up as HTML elements. The hierarchy of HTML heading elements used is not logical. This makes it difficult for blind people to orient themselves on the page.
  • Some images have no meaningful or misleading alternative texts. Blind people cannot therefore understand the content of the images.
  • Some graphical controls on the page do not have a name that can be determined programmatically. This means that their function is not clear to blind people.
  • Some text links on the page do not correctly identify the target or purpose of the link in the programmatically determined name. This means that they cannot be activated via voice input. Even blind people don't know where the links lead.
  • The contrast between text and background color is not sufficient in all cases. This makes it difficult for people with poor eyesight to recognize the texts.
  • The contrast of some controls to adjacent colors is not sufficient in all cases. This makes it difficult for people with poor vision to recognize the controls.
  • The help tool on the site is not barrier-free. People with disabilities may not be able to enable accessibility features.
  • Some website controls cannot be accessed via keyboard, such as the central search. Blind people and people with limited motor skills cannot operate the site using the keyboard alone.
  • The order in which elements are controlled with the keyboard is not consistently understandable.
  • Some labels are not linked to subsequent form elements. This means that required entries in forms are not understandable for blind people.
  • Not all input fields that relate to user data have an autocomplete attribute implemented. This makes it impossible for blind and motor-impaired people to enter data more easily by adopting input suggestions.
  • Incorrectly completed or missing mandatory entries in forms are not highlighted. This makes identifying the incorrect fields more difficult.
  • Error messages in form elements cannot be determined programmatically. This means that they are not noticeable to blind people.

The website of the Lower Saxony State Museum Hannover will be adapted and optimized to the EU Directive 2016/2102 on the implementation of barrier-free internet for public bodies. The identified deficits and deficiencies are currently in a continuous improvement process that is being gradually addressed.
