Caspar David Friedrich is today considered the most important German Romantic painter. On the occasion of the artist's 250th birthday, the Hanover State Museum is showing a cabinet exhibition with works from its own holdings. The focus is on the series of works called “Four Times of Day”, the only completely preserved cycle of times of day by Friedrich.
