Paula Modersohn Becker

the great simplicity of the form

guide

Paula Modersohn-Becker is considered a pioneer of modernism in Germany. What was so new about your pictures about 120 years ago? During the tour we look at how the artist experimented with shapes and color in her paintings. We examine how Paula Modersohn-Becker constructed her pictures and try out simplifying the form ourselves.
