time travel to the middle ages

1.10.2021 – 20.2.2022

Kings, princesses, noble fighters and castles with magnificent knight halls - the Middle Ages are omnipresent in films, TV series and books. There are also many traces of this past time in our landscapes and cities. But how did people really live 1.000 years ago?

In the exhibition, seven personalities invite you to discover the Middle Ages in a playful way: the knight and the castle mistress, the trader, the minstrel, the craftsman, the monk and the farmer tell their individual stories and give an insight into the age of knights and castles.

Around 30 multimedia hands-on stations put the past and present in dialogue: visitors can virtually ride a tournament or forge swords, dress like a noble lady, discover a medieval city, learn a courtly dance, compose music, get to know the life of the peasants or are initiated into the secrets of herbal medicine.

Original objects, from swords to exquisite pieces of jewelry, accompany the journey through time to the Middle Ages.

There is an exciting educational program for school classes relating to the special exhibition.
